Another short poem by Dr. Muhammad Allama Iqbal (1877 – 1938). It contains the ideal wish of a child. It is frequently taught to and memorized by the Muslim children in the Indo-Pakistan-Bangladesh region.
بچے کي د عا (ما خو ذ) بچوں کے ليے
لب پہ آتي ہے دعا بن کے تمنا ميري
زندگي شمع کي صورت ہو خدايا ميريدور دنيا کا مرے دم سے اندھيرا ہو جائے
ہر جگہ ميرے چمکنے سے اجالا ہو جائےہو مرے دم سے يونہي ميرے وطن کي زينت
جس طرح پھول سے ہوتي ہے چمن کي زينتزندگي ہو مري پروانے کي صورت يا رب
علم کي شمع سے ہو مجھکو محبت يا ربہو مرا کام غريبوں کي حمايت کرنا
دردمندوں سے ضعيفوں سے محبت کرنامرے اللہ! برائي سے بچانا مجھکو
نيک جو راہ ہو اس رہ پہ چلانا مجھکو
Translation:
My longing comes to my lips as supplication of mine
O God! May like the candle be the life of mine!
May the world’s darkness disappear through the life of mine!
May every place light up with the sparkling light of mine!
May my homeland through me attain elegance
As the garden through flowers attains elegance
May my life like that of the moth be, O Lord!
May I love the lamp of knowledge, O Lord!
May supportive of the poor my life’s way be
May loving the old, the suffering my way be
O God! Protect me from the evil ways
Show me the path leading to the good ways
